The mission of the Black Leadership
Commission on AIDS of Detroit is to mobilize and educate
African-American leaders in the City of Detroit to respond to HIV/AIDS
and public health, to enhance the African-American communities’ access
wherever public policy is deliberated and resources are allocated, and
to serve as advocates and provide support to frontline agencies in their
daily war on AIDS in Detroit communities. Through the leadership, the BLCA of
Detroit will work to ensure the equitable allocation of
resources for the African American community and to enhance the capacity
of local direct service organizations. BLCA of Detroit will develop
plans together and engage in joint advocacy at all levels of government
to protect and strengthen the public health and disease prevention
efforts of the City of Detroit.
